“Yay, I cooked Indonesian food.”
Great fun. We started the day with an early morning tour of the market. We were warned that some people find it confronting (chicken heads and fish in the open) but we were fine. Our market guide explained the various foods used in Indonesian cooking clearly and was able to answer questions. We had 11 in the cooking class itself and we each had to make the paste for a separate dish. There are helpers on hand to give guidance and help if necessary and they also measured out the ingredients. Cleanliness was a big factor which was great. We cooked all sorts of dishes and got to sample each one at lunchtime. Our host was very good at keeping everyone on track and making sure everything was done in a timely manner. As he said, we are here for lunch, not dinner! Both my partner and I enjoyed it immensely.
